Information about joining the Society
The Society has five categories of member (full members, student members, supporting members, corresponding members, and honorary members). In addition, the Society’s activities are basically carried out in Japanese. Individuals who agree with the Society’s objectives and wish to join can carry out the procedures online. Please see “Joining Procedures” (Japanese only) for details.

Membership categories
Full members
Those who are involved with research or practical activities related to issues in intercultural education
Can participate in all the Society’s business
Student members
Those who are enrolled at a graduate school or the equivalent*
Can participate in all the Society’s business with the exception of the election of executive board members
- Undergraduate students who have been accepted onto a graduate course and wish to make a presentation the following year may be accepted as “equivalent”
Supporting members
Organizations in agreement with the Society’s aims
Can participate in all the Society’s business with the exception of the election of executive board members
Corresponding members
Can receive the communications and materials issued by the Society (with the exception of the Society’s journal)
Honorary members
Full members who made a particularly distinguished contribution to the Society, proposed by the Board and approved by the General Assembly

- Membership fees are for the one-year period from April to the following March. Payment of the annual membership fee until the following March is required the first year, irrespective of when a member joins.
- A joining fee of 3,000 yen is required when moving from student membership to full membership.
