異文化間教育学会第45回大会を、2024年6月22日（土）・23日（日）の両日、金沢大学にて開催させていただくことになりました。金沢大学での異文化間教育学会の開催は初めてとなります。大会準備委員を代表して、心より歓迎を申し上げます。
北陸新幹線開業により東京からのアクセスも向上し、関東、関西、東海いずれからも2～3時間でおいでいただけるようになりました。戦火を経験することがなかった金沢には、江戸の武家屋敷や茶屋街から明治の洋館、昭和レトロな飲み屋街に現代アートな建築までが徒歩圏に共存し、各時代の文化も生活に息づいています。この機会にぜひ街歩きや、豊富で多様な海と山の恵みを活かした食もお楽しみいただければ幸いです。
ただし会場の金沢大学は、街中ではなく兼六園から眺める山の端に位置しています。金沢大学の歴史は1862年に創設された加賀藩の種痘所にさかのぼり、明治期に旧制第四高等学校に、そして戦後に金沢大学へと形を変えてきました。金沢城の中にある大学として記憶されている方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、1995年にメインキャンパスが移転し、現在は中心市街地から離れた角間の里山に、全国的にも有数の広大なキャンパスを構えています。春には桜、夏には緑、秋には紅葉、冬には白に染まる自然豊かなキャンパスは、できれば会いたくない野生動物もしばしば出没するものの、国連大学高等研究所いしかわ・かなざわオペレーティング・ユニットと連携して里山里海プロジェクトを展開するなど、市民の自然学習の場にもなっています。スーパーグローバル大学創成支援事業や留学生就職促進プログラムに取り組むなど、教育研究や人の国際化にも力を入れてきているところですが、四季折々の美しさは留学生にも好評です。
ご不便をおかけすることもあるかと存じますが、金沢駅から兼六園を経由して金沢大学角間キャンパスへと至るローカルバスの小さな旅も楽しんでいただければ幸いです。皆様のご参加を心よりお待ち申し上げます。

We are pleased to announce that the 45th Annual Conference of the Intercultural Education Society of Japan will be held at Kanazawa University on June 22 (Sat.) and 23 (Sun.), 2024. This will be the very first time for Kanazawa University to host the Annual Conference of Intercultural Education Society of Japan. On behalf of the conference organizing committee, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for this great honor.
With the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, access from Tokyo has improved, enabling visitors from the Kanto, Kansai, and Tokai regions to come to Kanazawa in two to three hours. Kanazawa, which never experienced warfare in the modern era, has samurai residences and teahouses of the Edo period, Western-style buildings of the Meiji period, Showa-period retro drinking district, and contemporary art architecture all within walking distance from each other, bringing the culture of each era into the daily life of the city. We hope you will take this opportunity as well to explore the city and enjoy the delicacies of the sea and the mountains.
However, the conference venue, Kanazawa University, is not located in the city center, but on the edge of the mountain, viewed from famous Kenrokuen Garden. The history of Kanazawa University can be traced back to the Kaga Domain's vaccination institute founded in 1862, which was transformed into the old No. 4 High School during the Meiji period and then into Kanazawa University after the World War II. Some may remember it as the university located inside the Kanazawa Castle, but the main campus was relocated to the mountainside in Kakuma in 1995, and the current campus is one of the largest in the country. The campus is rich in nature, with cherry blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and white in winter. Although it is often visited by wild animals that one would prefer not to see, it is also a place for citizens to learn about nature, such as through the projects conducted in cooperation with the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability Operating Unit Ishikawa/Kanazawa. Kanazawa University has been committed to the internationalization of education, research, and people through such initiatives as the Super Global University Project and the Employment Promotion Program for International Students. The beauty of the campus in all four seasons is also well received by our international students.
We hope you will enjoy the small local bus trip from Kanazawa Station to the Kanazawa University Kakuma Campus via Kenrokuen Garden. We look sincerely forward to welcoming you to the 45th Annual Conference in Kanazawa.
